Norris converts pole into a controlled Monaco win as McLaren bookend Leclerc on the podium.
The race
Lando Norris led all the way from pole to beat Charles Leclerc by 3.1s, with Oscar Piastri third and Max Verstappen fourth. The top four finished exactly as they started; Lewis Hamilton climbed from 7th on the grid to 5th. Early VSC, Gasly’s lap-7 retirement and Alonso’s mid-race exit were the only real interruptions on a dry, processional street circuit.
Strategy
Tyre degradation was almost non-existent: mediums fitted at just 0.005 s/lap and hards at 0.029 s/lap, so the race was about compound rules and traffic rather than wear. Norris and Piastri both ran Medium-Hard-Hard; Leclerc mixed Medium-Hard-Medium. Median pit loss was 24.3s. Undercuts barely moved the needle up front - the biggest gains (Antonelli +15s, Hadjar +5.8s) were midfield, while Hamilton and Sainz each lost over 20s across stop windows.
The story in the data
Oliver Bearman was the biggest mover, +8 places from 20th to 12th; Colapinto gained five. Qualifying order held at the front - pole was the race. Surprising stat: George Russell set the second-fastest lap of the race (1:13.405) yet finished only 11th after a drive-through for track limits at Turn 10.
